Silberman posited that “attachment” signifies an emotional bond between teachers and students who bring them satisfaction, often leading these students to become teachers’ pets. He delineated four emotional stances that teachers adopt toward particular students: attachment, concern, indifference, and rejection. Silberman (1969) stands as a pioneering figure in delving into the phenomenon of teachers’ pets. It aimed to systematically categorize and understand the various types of kindergarten teachers’ pets from the viewpoint of these educators. Thus, this study focused on kindergarten teachers as the subjects of study, examining the students whom teachers tend to favor. Before this study, no scholars had undertaken specialized empirical study on the categorization of teachers’ pets at any educational stage. Hence, there is a need to enhance study on this phenomenon from the teachers’ perspective. However, teachers and students exhibit distinct attitudes toward the teachers’ pet phenomenon, with notable differences in their responses to this occurrence ( Tal and Babad, 1989). Previous studies have predominantly explored the teachers’ pet phenomenon from the students’ perspective, few scholars have delved into the phenomenon from the viewpoint of teachers. Teacher favoritism may have positive or negative effects on students ( Brey and Pauker, 2019). This favoritism results in preferential treatment for teacher’s pets due to the teachers’ preferences, contradicting the core principles of educational fairness ( Tal and Babad, 1989 Tal and Babad, 1990 Luttrell, 1993 Trusz, 2017). Within the teacher-student relationship, the Teacher’s Pet Phenomenon (TPP) delineates a unique emotional bond between a teacher and a specific student or group, often characterized by favoritism where the favored student is labeled the “teacher’s pet” ( Babad, 2009). The Study predominantly focuses on fairness, centering on vulnerable groups: girls, children from ethnic minorities, individuals with disabilities, students from impoverished families, and those encountering academic disadvantages ( Klopfenstein, 2004 Belfiore et al., 2005 Subrahmanian, 2005 Rioux and Pinto, 2010 Vincent and Shobha, 2020). Inequities within education manifest not solely in national resource allocation but also in the dynamics between teachers and students within classroom settings ( Vahidnia et al., 2019). Conversely, the representation of vulnerable-concerned children (11.1%) was the lowest among the identified types.Įquity in education remains an enduring concern, advocating for equal treatment among all educators, achieving this goal persists as a challenge ( Anne Winter, 2018 Psaki et al., 2018). An analysis based on game theory revealed the weighted combinations, highlighting the top three types of teacher’s pets: children influenced by parental factors (24.3%), proactive and enthusiastic individuals (15.7%), and obedient, carefree children (14.8%), respectively. Not only did it validate existing findings, but it also expanded upon the identified types of teacher’s pets. The resulting model demonstrated a sound structure. This model encapsulated 32 distinct indicators, categorized into 7 types: children with good appearance (GA), exceptional abilities (OA), commendable conduct (GC), proactive and enthusiastic demeanor (PE), compliant and carefree nature (OC), children from vulnerable groups (VC), and those influenced by their parents (PI). Subsequently, A comprehensive model of teacher’s pets was developed through a questionnaire survey involving 463 participants. Initially, qualitative interviews were conducted with 15 kindergarten teachers to identify specific criteria influencing teacher preferences. To investigate the preferences teachers exhibit toward certain children, the study focused on kindergarten teachers and employed a mixed research methodology. The teacher’s pets are a common occurrence in the field of education.

Just takes a bit more patience to find them, and recommend setting them as favorites! YMMV on load times, based on your computer and drive speed. In comparison, every time you select a preset in Syntronik, you then will need to load it and wait for the samples to load. And your MiniLab MK2 should have built-in control maps for AL, so you are ready to play! And IMO the preset browser is more advanced in Analog Lab. Simply because modeled synths have nearly instantaneous preset load times, so are much easier to audition sounds with. So as a preset machine, I would lean towards Analog Lab. I would consider them both to be preset machines, and both have great sounds! But both are limited to the oscillators designed into the presets. I have the full Analog Lab V and the full Syntronik. While shooting, both the outer lines and the inner lines expand outwards, because both lines are set to react to the firing error. This is because the former reacts to the movement error but the latter does not. While strafing from side to side, the outer lines expand outwards but the inner lines stay where they are. This crosshair is composed of a set of lengthy inner lines and a set of short dotlike outer lines. The gif above displays the movement error and firing error in action, using the default Valorant crosshair. Using the movement error and firing error settings in your crosshair, you can see a visual indication of how both these things impact your accuracy. That last point is an important one, so let's take a closer look at what these "error" settings mean.Īn important aspect of gunplay in Valorant is that the accuracy of your shots decreases drastically under two circumstances: while you're moving, and while firing multiple shots in a short space of time. Once you’ve done what you can on the tableau, you can go through the stock. If you can find some Aces this way, that’s great! If you start filling up stacks on top of those face-down cards, it’s going to be harder to reveal them. Beginners will start going through the stock immediately, but these cards aren’t going anywhere. With those rules understood, the best strategy to begin is to reveal as many face-down cards on the tableau as you can. Also, you can only begin a new stack on the tableau with a King, and the waste pile must maintain the same order that you drew them. On the tableau, you must place cards in descending order from King to Ace, and they must alternate colors. The objective of 1 Card Solitaire is to fill your foundations in ascending order from Ace to King by suit. And remember: once you finish your foundations, you win! Now, you can begin playing! As you can see, the game is all about arranging cards in order. In this version of Solitaire, 1 Card Solitaire, you draw cards from the stock one at a time. When the stock runs out, the waste is brought back into it in the same order. The discard pile next to it is called the waste, where unused stock cards are kept in order of draw. The stack in the upper left is called the stock, which is a pile you can draw from to reveal new cards and add them to the tableau if you’re able. Completing your foundations means you’ve won the game! You must have the appropriate ace down before building on your foundations. The objective of the game is to arrange the cards from the tableau into the four suits-clubs, diamonds, spades, and hearts-in ascending order starting with the ace. When there’s an empty spot, only a king can fill it, so keep that in mind! Revealing all the cards on the tableau is an important strategy of the game. The face-down cards are revealed when there are no face-up cards in front of them. You may arrange cards in descending order on the tableau, switching between suits.įor example, here, you’d be able to move the red queen on top of the black king, but you wouldn’t be able to put the red 5 on top of the red 6. As you can see, there are seven stacks of cards, each with one more face-down card than the next. The cards on the board are called the tableau. In the settings, you can turn autoplay on and off, turn sound on and off, view your game statistics, and view the instructions of the game (just in case the following explanation isn’t enough). There are buttons to start a new game, access settings, and undo the last move. In the bottom left, there’s a timer, and your best time is on the bottom right. Once the score is tallied after each hand, another deal begins.Once you hit play, the action begins! The game will automatically arrange your beginning setup. Once 10 sandbags are reached, the team looses 100 points and starts over with 0 sandbags again. When either of these are not met, the team will get -100 and -200 points respectively. If a nil is bid and met, the team gets an additional 100 points. If a bid is not met, each trick in the bid is worth -10 points. If the bid for a team is met, each trick counts 10 points, with any additional tricks (sandbags) worth 1 point. Once the full hand has been played, the game is scored. Spades cannot lead a trick until they have been broken in another trick or if that is the only suit the lead player has left in their hand. The winner of the trick leads the next trick. If a trick contains a spade, the highest spade wins. If a trick is played without a spade, the highest lead suit card takes the trick. Moving clockwise, each player plays a card to follow suit, unless they do not have the suit, in which they can play any card in their hand. The Spades game begins gameplay with the player to the left of the dealer, who can play any card other than a Spade. The payout will be higher if you achieve it, but the loss even greater if you don't - so bid this at your own risk! Teams must reach the total number of tricks they have bid together in order to get a positive score. If you bid a Blind Nil, you must bid a 0 without seeing your cards. The table then enters into the bidding phase where they estimate the number of tricks they can take with the hand they have been dealt. Spades is a game of trumps, where all spades are the best cards in the game and will beat all other suits.Įach hand begins with all 52 cards being dealt to the players. The version of 24/7 Spades is the most popular and is played with four Spades players in a team format, where players across the table are considered teammates. Spades is played with a basic set of 52 cards and card value ranks from 2, the lowest, to Ace, the highest. Spades is a casual card game developed in the 1930's in the USA. Those on PC can even go a step further, being able to host up to 15 other farmers for a hectic online hoedown. It requires organisation but having six people farming in tandem revs up the otherwise sluggish pacing, whatever side antics you get up to serving as a welcome tonic to the soul-destroying loneliness of solo play. Having those options there is great, allowing you to streamline specific parts of the game, but there’s nothing to end this unappealing, never ending loop.įarming Simulator 19 is way more interesting when opening your ranch to other players, hosting online sessions and working together with friends. As in previous instalments, workers can also be hired to automatically perform tasks (doing everything yourself manually is pure madness). There are further ways to tailor your simulation as well, such as modifying timescale and plant growth, with plenty more granular settings to tweak. In Farming Simulator 19 there are three ways to kickstart your career, either starting from scratch, with a sizeable farm, or as a larger farm manager. Distractions, such as raising animals, adds some variety but the focus here is mainly on working in the fields, learning what to plant, where to sell it, and what land or equipment to invest in next. You’ll occasionally need to refuel or switch vehicles/tools depending on the job at hand but there’s no escaping the inherent repetition. As always, much of the Farming Simulator experience revolves around driving up and down the same route, cultivating fields, sowing seeds, and waiting to harvest the crop ad infinitum. Whichever vehicles you set your eyes on, you’re going to see plenty of them. So if the thought of towing an officially licensed trailer somehow arouses you, then Farming Simulator 19 is pure filth. Where racing sims vie for high-end Porsches and Ferraris, Farming Simulator 19 has managed to land fabled brands such as Massey Ferguson and John Deere. It won’t mean much to those who aren’t agriculture maniacs but this latest instalment features the most extensive roster of official vehicles and tools in the series. They amount to your usual raft of minor tweaks and refinements, with an improvement to the game’s visuals and something hardcore fans have presumably been waiting for all these years… horse riding! Ludicrous, you may think, but the appetite for the games has only intensified over the years, Farming Simulator spearheading a genre that has no shortage of imitators including the creatively named Real Farm, Pure Farming, and Farm Expert.īut exactly what those new features are would be hard to pick out if they weren’t printed on the back of the box (or download screen). Farming Simulator now has its own ‘Farmcon’ annual gathering in Germany (shocker) and has even taken its first steps into the world of eSports with Championship, a competitive mod in which teams go head to head. Rudimentary graphics and a focus on monotonous busywork have led many to poke fun at the franchise yet here it is, 10 years after its debut, still going strong. Whether it’s young children, curious non-gamers, or die-hards looking for that genuine simulation experience it can have an entrancing effect on them that others simply can’t wrap their head around. Over the years Farming Simulator has attracted a surprisingly large and varied fanbase. But does it have the key to reach beyond its niche audience? The latest Farming Simulator has got a brand new combine harvester. Farming Simulator 19 (PS4) – the least action-packed video game ever |
